Following case study analysis of the Auditorio Ciudad de Leon by Mansilla & Tunon Architects in Leon, Spain, and a studio visit to the site, this proposal adds an outdoor amphitheater as a public space and additional performance venue.

The existing building boldly aligns its iconic facade with a medieval plaza, a strategy this proposal mirrors in the addition's siting to the building's rear. Taking its cue from the interest of Mansilla & Tunon in self consciously framing views and reference points as part of the process of performance, this amphitheater's various focal points put sidewalk passersby, performers, audience, and building circulation on display. plan.png
